ABOUT ME

A Wild Soul at heart!

I am from the Philippines.  I grew up in Cebu City, the country's oldest city is located in the heart of the Philippines and has a rich history, vibrant culture and fun-loving people.  People call us 'Cebuanos'.  Although most of the Filipinos referred to us as very ‘selective’ or ‘hard to please’ people.  I guess because we just stick to our own guns.  We have firm opinions about politics, religion or cultural beliefs and we prefer to be logical than be gullible.  But we’re light-hearted people!

At a young age, I developed my passion for art and the incomparable beauty of things.  I liked to imagine and create things.

My appreciation of beauty is more than just the physical appearance, but the uniqueness of an individual.  I even enjoy interesting and unusual people.  For me, their singularity makes them beautiful, their wild soul.

         My passion for art

I paint during my free time, especially during summer break. Aside from that, I also try to learn calligraphy and I visit different museums from time to time, especially when I travel.

Probably like you, I also love traveling!

I aimlessly travel whenever I can and when I can financially afford it.  Having lived and traveled to many places in my life, I was bitten by the travel bug.  One can just imagine how I deeply feel not being able to travel during the pandemic.

How I learned to love teaching

Psychology and education have always been an interest ever since junior high school. So, I took up a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. But I always believe in the importance of education in molding children not only to be competitive but also to become responsible adults. After attending the university, I developed a passion to become a child psychologist. Unfortunately, I was not able to pursue my dream when I was offered a job as a Human Resource practitioner and it has become my career for almost eight years. After a long thought, I decided it is not the career for me. I finally decided to leave the job and went to live temporarily in Singapore to think further about my career and find other opportunities that might be available for me at that time. The time I spent away from my country had given me the opportunity to realize my dream once more.

I went back to the Philippines and worked as an online ESL teacher and a recruiter at the same time. The experience did not only help me to develop my teaching skills but it has given me so much fulfillment that I realized it is what I have been wanting to do. I enjoyed teaching and the challenges along with it.

In January 2015, I moved to Malta, where I still managed to teach online before I started working as a recruiter for almost a year.  But for personal reasons, I moved to Madrid last April of 2016. I was fortunate to find teaching jobs immediately. I was able to teach English as an extracurricular activity to infants, as young as two to four years old, in private tutorials, academies, and summer camps, and as a Language Assistant for three years.

I love Spain.  The people are very warm and friendly, the sunshine every winter will make you enjoy the outdoors even more, and visiting the cities and towns is always the best thing to do around Spain!

I graduated with my master's studies in teaching at Instituto Franklin and I am grateful for the things I learned every session.  It has helped me to evaluate my teaching skills, to develop better methodologies that work, to be open to new pedagogies available, and most of all, always collaborate with people who are passionate about teaching.

I am currently an English teacher in Madrid in an international school, teaching nursery students.
