IMG-6193.jpg

I created a poster of a house

and using pictures from magazines, I used them to decorate the parts of the house and the house objects.

A presentation about family and taught students how to introduce their family

and talk about their house

I then asked the students to introduce their families using the prompts from one of the slides.

The presentation also includes "parts of the house" and interactive game activities from different websites!

Assisted teacher Astrid's class in playing the mystery box

Students explored their sense of touch!

Students guessed what's inside the box without looking at the objects.

I then asked them what shape they think it was;

Was it smooth or rough?

Was it hard or soft?

Halloween Haunted House craft

This is a fun and quite challenging halloween project for kids.

It doesn't only require them to cut out the template, but they also need to carefully cut out the windows.

For this activity, I taught the kids how to cut out the windows using just their scissors.

They did not only enjoy the activity, but was also challenged after the hardwork of cutting the intricate small windows!

Aside from the illustration in student's textbook, teacher Loli also introduced the food pyramid and their nutrients.

And together, we also came up with food groups that is easier for kids to remember:

The GO, GROW and GLOW!

By using the food flashcards teacher Loli gave me, I reviewed the food pyramid and nutrients with the students in small groups

I also read a story to the class and made it more interactive by asking the students what nutrients they will get from the food.

If they like the food in the story,

and explained some phrases used in the story.

Overall, they enjoyed the story.  The students understood it very well and they were very participative!

After the story-telling, teacher Loli showed the video "Zombies don't eat veggies" from youTube.

The students had a great time watching it!

IMG-6187.jpg

Teacher Susana demonstrated the digestion process by using zip lock bag as the stomach.  Inside are cookies, banana and orange juice as the gastric juice, while the hands are the teeth.

By using stockings, she further demonstrated the digestion process in the small and large intestines and the absorption of nutrients as the juice finally squeezed out from it.

And finally a cup with a whole to demonstrate the excretion process.

It was not visually appealing to the students, but they understood the process by watching the teacher’s demonstration.

After, they wrote down the different digestive processes on their investigative sheets.

5th Graders

I got this worksheet online and I used it to practice reading and comprehension in small groups.

PET Speaking Exam preparation

Capture16.JPG

I prepared a PowerPoint presentation in order to prepare the 6th graders for PET speaking exam.

I also used additional online presentation for speaking test guide.

After my presentation, I showed the students a PET speaking exam video from youTube so they will have an idea how it looks like.

I also asked them to analyze the examinees' performance during the exam.

After, we had a class discussion and I asked the students what their thoughts about the examinees,

Did they show characteristics of a good speaker, based from what we discussed?
